THOMAS CROSS (England fl. 1644-1682)

Thomas Cross Thomas Cross was an engraver who produced numerous portraits of authors for frontispieces as well as title pages for books. He was a specialist in engraving shorthand manuals, and was himself the inventor of a shorthand system. Around 144 plates by Cross are known, of which 84 are portraits and 45 are frontispieces.
