CM: The Double Portrait of Boys as Sailors is amongst the earliest photographs Elite took in his new studio in Athens around 1950. The children were dressed as sailors, in keeping with the fashion for bourgeois families. Elit had the sensitivity of composing his models at ideal pozes and to take striking photographs at the right moment. For this photograph Elite used the 'Mimoza' paper, of which he had the monopoly. This paper differed from the black and white quality, acquiring a gracious olive green tone.
