CM: This work is from a series, in which Dana Gordon used techniques and forms from abstraction in combination with certain compositions and formats typical of landscape painting. They are all from a long period of exploration of mark-making, starting with a chalk mark on a piece of black paper in 1974, and redeveloping his work from there.
