KATERINA KANA (Cyprus, Nicosia b. 1973 / act: Athens)

Katerina KanaKaterina Kana was born in Nicosia of Cyprus in 1973. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Camberwell College of Arts, London (1991), at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London (1993), and at the the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1995). In 1996 she received the FIACRE Prize for Research in the Fine Arts, of the French Ministry of Culture, and the Residency Grant from the Elizabeth Foundation, New York and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Katerina Kana has had many personal exhibitions, including Medals of Honour at Galerie OZ, Paris (1995); Les Philosophes a Manger at Galerie du Temple, Paris (1995); Le Repas at Centre d'Art Contemporain, Troyes France (1995); Une Histoire at Galerie Robespiere of the Ville de Grande-Synthe, France (1995); Travesty at Ileana Tounta Gallery, Athens (1995); Be Your Guide at Galerie Renos Xippas of Paris (1996); Playing D at Galerie Pierre Nouvion, Monaco (1996); Gorilla Bride at CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux, France (1997); Blue Pigs at the Musée Geo-Charles, France (1998); Blue Pigs & Nurses at Lehmann & Maupin Gallery of New York (1998); Day Nine at The Kitchen Theater of New York (1999); Absolut Kana - Absolut Originals at Rebecca Camhi Gallery, Athens (1999); Hotel Room at Intercontinental Hotel Athens (1999); Fabula at Archimede Staffolini Gallery, Nicosia (1999); About Eden, Epikentro Gallery, Athens (2000); and the upcoming exhibition at E31 Gallery of Athens 2006. Katerina Kana currently lives and works in Athens.
