CM: In view of the publication of an article in the magazine "Technopaignio # 3" of March 2005 - because this magazine is usually illustrated with original engravings - Thanassis Rentzis commissioned abstract artist Betty Karoussi to create his portrait. For her reference Rentzis gave Karoussi a black and white photo from his youth. And though his wavy hair and bold mustache are features that can not be overlooked, however, Karoussi focused on Rentzis more as an ideotype than as a living form. Therefore she juxtaposed what she felt from her own experience represents the personality of Rentzis, which is light with darkness, and by extension the obvious with the obscure. The resulting artwork is the only portrait in the work of Karoussi, who notably deals with abstraction. This portrait of Karoussi also illustrated the interview of Thanasis Rentzis by Stamatis Mavroidis, published in Avgi Newspaper on 6 July 2008.
