Diane Katsiaficas was born on 23 November 1947 in Texas to parents of Greek descent. She received a B.A. in Chemistry from Smith College, Northampton, Mass, (1968); studied painting at Camberwell School of Art, London, England (1971-72); earned an M.A.T. in Art Education (1974) and an M.F.A. in Painting (1976) from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Diane was appointed Associate Professor (1985) and Professor (1990 to present) to the Art Department of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis . Diane Katsiaficas currently lives and works as Professor and Artist at the Art Department of the University of Minnesota while maintaining a home outside of Rafina, Greece.
