Areti Kloutsinioti was born on 14 December 1960 in Athens, Greece. She took painting courses at Mary Chatzinikoli Studio, Athens (1975). She studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts - ENSBA, Paris (1976-1981) painting with Pierre Matthey and mosaic with Riccardo Licata.
