Rena Kontogoni-Anastassiadi was born on 27 September 1945 in Athens. She graduated from Pierce College in 1963. She received the Master's Degree in Fine Arts at the Bath Academy of Art (1963-1966) studying graphic arts under Robin Denny and painting under Adrian Heath. She continued her studies in graphic art at Doxiadis School (1967-1968), under Ilias Decoulakos, Panagiotis Gravalos, and A. Tassos. She was professionally involved in the family business of Kontogonis - Malicoutis Typography (1968-1970). She painted on fayence as a freelance artist (1979-1983). She took painting courses at the Young Women Christian Association - YWCA of Glyfada (1981-1982). In the period 1980-1998 she practiced art in various media with Hellen Boudali, Marriana Gavriil, Stella Kalamara, and Natassa Metaxa.
