Kalliopi Kopanitsa was born on 19 September 1953 in London, England. After graduating from Pierce College, Athens (1971), she earned a Bachelor's degree of Stage Design at the Wimbledon College Art, London (1975), and a Master's degree in Drama at the University of Essex, Colchester (1978). She also received a Fulbright Scholarship to further her studies at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University - NYU, New York (1988). She has taught at the Theater Studies department at the University of Patras. Currently, she teaches Theater Arts at her alma matter Pierce College. She works in the theater, cinema and television. She is also a stage designer for the Tuesday Group of Cerebral Palsy Greece (former Spastic Society Athens). She illustrates books and has written one of her own, Gatorama: Lyrics and Drawings for Athenians Cats (Hermes Publications, 1996).
