OMIROS KOSMIDIS (Greece, Athens b. 1968 / act: Athens) |
Omiros Kosmidis was born on 20 March 1968 in Athens, Greece. He is an alumnus of Athens College (1986). He graduated with honors from the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1996), having studied painting with Chronis Botsoglou and stage design with George Ziakas. He worked as a teacher of color, costume design, and the history of theater & cinema at the Institute of Vocational Training - AKMI IVT, Athens (2003). He worked under the supervision of George Malamas to restore the frescoes of the following churches: Saint John Chrysostom of Polydroso, (2005) and Virgin Mary (2006). He worked as sculptor and painter in stage design at the National Theater of Northern Greece, Thessaloniki (2006).He attended the following seminars: Acting by Manolikakis Andreas (2005-2006), Contact Improvisation in the dance workshop of Kleisiouni Christina (2005-2006), African Dance and Free Improvisation in the dance workshop of Mentez Maria (2005-2006), Bodies and Colors of Sound by Dimos Tsingakos (2005-2006), Butoh Dance by Masaki Iwana Athens, Chania (2005-2006), Sound and Light by Dimitra Grigorea (2007), Butoh Dance by Yumiko Yoshioka on Andros (2007).
He designed the following stages: 15 Minutes by Persa Stamatopoulou, Athens (2002), Aristophanes' Lysistrata, directed by Takis Tarsitalidi (2002), In Between, Contemporary Dance Festival, Theater Argo, Athens (2005), Two Meters of Earth, film Christos Goda (1994), As We Like by John Rigas, Hestia Theater Organization, Athens (1994), Five to One by Persa Stamatopoulou, Stage Dance Factory, Athens (1995), Relativity, film by Spyros Polymeris (2007), Immortality, film by Panos Karkanevatos (2007), The Song of Iris, Butoh performance, Athens College Theater, Athens (2008), August Strindberg's Storm, Other Place Theater, Athens (2008), On Ice 2, Argo Theater, Athens (2008).
He participated as collaborator in the following shows: Electra of Mikis Theodorakis, Odeon Herodes Atticus, Athens (1996), Ich Bin Das Ich Bin by Alexander Pfaf, Entropia Theater, Alternative Stage Festival (2006).
Omiros Kosmidis presented his first personal exhibition at Agathi Art Gallery, Athens (2000). He also took part in following group exhibitions: A Tribute to Nikos Kavvadias, Piraeus Port Authority - OLP, Piraeus (1991); Alumni of the Athens School of Fine Arts, National Gallery - Alexandros Soutzos Museum, Athens (1997); The Crew of a Different Time, installation aboard Battleship Averoff, Phaleron (2001);Alumni Artists, Athens College, Athens (2005); ArTower, Athens (2005); Cheapart, Mylos, Thessaloniki (2006); and Cheapart, Athens (2007).
Omiros Kosmidis continues to live and work in Athens.
