LEFTERIS KRITIKOS (Greece, Tinos Island b. 1948 / act: Tinos) |
Lefteris Kritikos was born on 2 November 1948 on Tinos Island, Greece. He studied at the Public School of Wireless Operators at Aspropyrgos, Attiki. Between 1966-1975 he t raveled abroad in the Meditarranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, from Canada to Argentine and from Gibraltar to Nigeria. In 1975 he returned to Tinos Island and co-founded with artist Babis Retzepopoulos To Magazi Gallery. Loom textile weaving became his primary pursuit In 1984 he opened Atelier Lefteris Kritikos on Tinos Island, which continues to operate.Lefteris Kritikos presented the following personal exhibitions: Our Work in Our Work Space, Atelier Lefteris Kritikos, Tinos Island (2006); Homer’s Odyssey , Town Hall, Ios Island (2001); Ekfrasi - Yianna Grammatopoulou, Glyfada (1985, 1990); To Magazi Gallery, Tinos Island (1981, 1982, 1985) . He also took part in the following group exhibitions: Aegean Art , Ora Cultural Center, Athens (1978); To Magazi Gallery, Tinos Island (1979); Craftsmen, Hellenic American Union, Athens (1980); Creations from Greek Tradition, Park Hotel, Athens (1982); Glatt, Zurich, Switzerland (1983); Christmas, Hellenic Organization of Small Medium Sized Enterprises & Handicrafts - EOMMEX, Athens (1984); Epoches Gallery, Kifissia (1990); Galerie Vues, Mykonos Island (1990); Panorama Gallery, Athens (1993); Town Hall, Vaduz, Liechtenstein (1994); 2ème Biennale Internationale de la Tapisserie Contemporaine, Beauvais, France (1994); Ktikados,Tinos Island (1997); Town Hall, Chania, Crete (1997); Le Château des Adhémar, Montélimar, France (1999); Musée Jean-Lurçat, Angers, Anzai, France (2000); Exhibition House, Falatados, Tinos Island (2002). § Lefteris Kritkos continues to live and work on Tinos Island. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece - EETE.
