CM: Kyriacos Lazarides' Face Decoded presents the system code of conduct and hence communication of modern human. The face covers the entire picture with bold and swift strokes of the brush or the spatula to express the irritation of embarrassment for its anonymity. In creating the portrait of an anonymous man, the artist exposes his position on critical issues of our times - such as the environmental destruction, the boom of population, the geographical disorientation, the prevalence of globalisation, the levelling of moral values, the clash of cultures, the rivalry amongst religions, and the growing anxiety about the threat of human existence. This complex of issues appears in the form of a mask that smothers modern man. However, behind the mask appears something that can not be codified and remains unchanged, and therefore may resist crisis - the true face of man.
