Christos Manousakis was born on 23 March 1963 on the Island of Crete, Greece. His first encounter with photography was in 1983. Since 1988 he lives in Germany and works as a self-taught photographer. He studied at the School for Photography in Cologne (1991-1993).
Since 1993 Christos Manousakis works independently as a commercial photographer in classical b/w photography in all formats. In 1996 Monoussakis founded the 'Artist's Initiative Group V', dedicated to the preservation and spreading of the craft of photography with artistic claim. He organized of the biennial Fine Art Forum which took place in Braunfels bei Lahn from 1996 and in Wetzlar from 2003. The main focus of the biennial is exhibitions, talks, panel discussions as well as product presentations specifically for the B/W photograph with representatives of the industry, photographers, journalists and scientists from Europe and America . Since 1997 he led workshops in collaboration with the Leica Academy in Greece on b/w photography. Since 2000 he led workshops in Germany on the subject of still-life and portraiture.
Christos Manousakis has presented exhibitions in the following European cities: Athens; Basel; Bonn; Cologne; Frankfurt; London; Paris; and Prague.
