CM: Manfredini's art disavows the classical parameters of male beauty. The title Self-Portrait as a Satyr is in keeping with Manfredini's principle in art, to express an existential experience. As Weiermair claims "Manfredini lends his psucho-physical 'corpus' to the image, and, within the image, he becomes a shadow filled with light" [Weiermair 2005, p.11]
