MICHELE MACRAKIS (Greece, Crete Island / act: USA, Boston) |
Michele Macrakis is a Rhode Island School of Design graduate in Fine Art Photography. After graduating she won a Fellowship from the Instititute of International Education to photograph her native Island of Crete. Macrakis stayed on, in Greece, after her studies, to work as a photojournalist for such publications as, Gamma Presse Images, Newsweek and Time. She also served as the managing editor for a German Guide book to the Island of Crete, where she contributed many of the photos. In due course, Macrakis turned to digital photography, which - she admits - gives her the freedom to experiment. A fovorite subject of Macrakis is unconventional wedding photography, as much in black-and-white as in digital color.
