NICHOLAS MOORE (England, London b. 1958 / act: Syros Island, Greece) |
Nicholas J.C. Moore was born on 19 May 1958 in London, England. He studied zoology at Bristol University (1976-1979). After visiting Greece on a regular basis (1976-1980), in 1982 he moved to Chania, Crete,and worked with John Craxton. In 1991 he returned back to London, while maintaining a studio in Greece. In the period 1997-2000 he divided his time evenly between Syros and London. Since 2001 he has been based on Syros Island. He curated the 2 nd Annual Group Exhibition Municipal Collection of Ermoupolis Syros (2009).Nicholas Moore presented the following personal exhibitions: Christopher Hull, London (1986, 1988); British Council, Athens (1987); Firka, Chania (1989); Gallery K, London (1994, 1996, 1999); CSK Gallery, Eton (1995); Municipal Gallery, Ermoupolis, Syros Island (2003); Let Us Cultivate Our Garden, Martinos Art Gallery, Athens (2005); Municipal Gallery, Ermoupolis, Syros Island (2007); I Should Get Out Moore, Martinos Art Gallery, Athens (2008); and A Tale of Three Islands: Great Britain - Crete - Syros, Municipal Art Gallery, Ermoupolis, Syros / Chania, Crete (2009).
