ASPASIA PAPADOPERAKI (Greece, Crete, Spilia b. 1942 / act: Athens) |
Aspasia Papadoperaki was born on 9 September 1942 at Spilia of Crete, Greece. The State Scholarship Foundation - IKY enabled her to study at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1966-1972) sculpture with Dimitris Kalamaras and stage design with Vassilis Vassiliadis. With a scholarship from the Hellenic Organization of Small Medium Sized Enterprises & Handicrafts - EOMMEX she furthered her studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Marcel Gili and César and attended stage design at Vincennes.In her sculpture Papadoperaki uses elements from her studies on the human figure of the archaic period of Greek sculpture, as well as from popular architecture of the Aegean Sea.
Aspasia Papadoperaki has presented her works in the following exhibitions: Ora Cultural Center, Athens (1978); Ten Sculptors, National Gallery - Alexandros Soutzos Museum, Athens (1979), Sculpture for Maria Callas, Goethe-Institut, Athens (1983); Cavafy's Figure, Stavrakakis Gallery, Heraklio (1984), Elements from the Treasury of the Siphnians in Art of the 20th Century, AICA, Athens (1987); Examination of an Artwork, National Youth Foundation, Athens (1992), Astrolavos Gallery, Piraeus (2001); Apollo Gallery, Rafina (2001); and Maria Callas, Astrolavos Gallery, Athens.
Aspasia Papadoperaki currently lives and works in Athens, Greece.
