Evangelos Pappas was a Greek photographer who spent time in Turkey as a military photographer during the period just prior to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. In western Asia Minor he systematically documented atrocities perpetrated against Ottoman Greeks by Turks. ACG Art is aware of the existence of an unpublished private collection of several hundred photographs on the Ottoman Greek Genocide including many graphic pieces by Evangelos Pappas. To date, photography successfully attributed to Pappas derives from the early 1920s and spans both Greece and Turkey.
