CM: This is Frances Rich's scale study for the monumental statue of Firestone Saint Francis of Assisi. The clay version was a sketch before a series of 10 bronzes were cast in 1953. The Merrill Collection offered one of those studies to Saint John's Church, Washington, DC, in 1954. In 1955 two more of these studies entered the collections of the Holy Names Academy, Seattle, WA, and the College of Sister Formation, Issaquah, WA.
