Christian Rothmann was born on 24 December 1954 in Kedzierzyn, Poland. He moved to Langen, Germany, in 1965. Since 1974 he lives and works in Berlin. He received his education at Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach, Germany (1976). He furthered his studies at the Pädagogische Hochschule and Hochschule der Künste - HdK, Berlin (1977-1983): Fine arts, Labor Science/Technology, Emphasis in Education of Aesthetics, Science of Art and Culture, University of the Arts, Berlin. He offered his professional experience as follows: Lecturer for Silk-Screen Printing, Pedagogical Development, Senator for Educational System, Berlin (1989); Taught Photography & Silk-Screen Printing, Hochschule der Künste, Berlin (1983-1990); Taught Painting, Sozialwerk Berlin e.V., Berlin (1981-1991); Assistant Professor at the Hochschule der Künste(HdK), Berlin (1990-1995); International Arts Correspondent for the Japanese Art Magazine Atelier (1993-1998). He presented the following public art projects: Outdoor Mural, Berlin (1986); Outdoor Mural, Langen, Germany (1990); Memorial for the Deported Jewish Tailors and Couturiers , Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin, Germany (1997); Texture and Picture Wall for Handicapped Children, Langen, Germany (1998, 2005); and City Gate, Langen, Germany (2003).
