CM: Lia Stamopoulou believes that nonrepresentational abstraction serves painting best. Stamopoulou is inspired by archetypal elements found on archaic pottery - such as spirals, meanders, crosses and other symbols. Here she appropriates these elements and represents them in the form of graffiti. When painting, Stamopoulou likes to mix styles - especially the cubist in the main picture and expressionistic at the deeper level that frames the image.
