ARIS STOIDIS (Greece, Thessaloniki b. 1971 / act: Thessaloniki, Athens and Mount Athos) |
Aris Stoidis was born on 8 February 1971 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He studied music and restoration of art and antiquities in Thessaloniki, as well as wood and glass restoration and decorative painting at Escuela Profesional Superior de Arte y Restauración - EPSAR (1999) in Barcelona, Spain. He also attended series of classes on art history and philosophy of aesthetics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2000-2003). As a composer, he has participated in three Biennials of Young Artists in Europe (Thessaloniki, Turin, Valencia), as well as in several festivals in Greece. He has mainly composed music for the theatre. In 1994, he founded 'Project 111' and 'Gallery 111', organizing a series of exhibitions, seminars and other events until 1997. In 1998, he presented his first art work at the 1st Greek Exhibition of Objects by Artists at Mylos, Thessaloniki. Since 1999, he has participated in all Cheapart exhibitions, both in Athens and in Thessaloniki. In 2001, he started his collaboration with Tsatsis Projects / Artforum in Thessaloniki and Mykonos Island. Since 2002, he has also been collaborating with Gallery 3 in Athens, and Artscape Gallery in Mykonos Island. In 2002, he started his collaboration with Gallery 3 in Athens, where he held his first personal exhibition in April 2004.Aris Stoidis has presented the following personal exhibitions: Gallery 3, Athens (2004); The Nafplion Art Gallery, Nafplion, Peloponnese (2004); Art Forum Gallery - Tsatsis Projects, Thessaloniki (2005); and Artist or Alchemist?, Gallery 3, Athens (2007). He has also participated in the following group exhibitions: Art Athina #11 , Gallery 3, Athina (2005); ARTmART, Künstlerhaus, Vienna (2007); Between Sky and Earth, Art Forum Gallery - Tsatsis Projects, Thessaloniki (2007); and Art Athina #14, Art Forum Gallery - Tsatsis Projects, Athens (2008). In July 2005, his work was selected to illustrate the main article on privacy, in the philosophical magazine 'Cogito'.
Aris Stoidis lives and works in Thessaloniki, Athens and Mount Athos.
