Yorgos Taxiarchopoulos was born 18 February 1972 in Athens, Greece. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1998-2003) painting with Chronis Botsoglou and Tassos Christakis. He furthered his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts - ENSBA (2001-2002) with a scholarship of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy - LVMH and The Pont Neuf Association. In Paris he was awarded the prize at the 8th International Competition of the LVMH Group (2002) and in Athens the 1st prize at the Yannis and Zoe Spyropoulos Foundation (2002). With the aid of the State Scholarship Foundation - IKY he received a Master in Digital Arts - MDA at ASFA (2004-2006) with a scholarship from Japan Foundation and the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation he participated at the international research program of the Center for Contemporary Art - CCA, Kitakyushu, Japan (2007-2008).
