ELENI TSOTSOROU (Greece, Athens b. 1966 / act: Athens) |
Eleni Tsotsorou was born on 5 December 1966 in Athens, Greece. After graduating from Arsakeion in 1984, she studied for a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physics at the School of Positive Sciences University of Athens (1985-1990) and furthered her studies with a Master of Science in Radiation Physics at University College London - UCL (1990-1991). She did her internship as a radiation Physicist at Agios Savvas Anticancer Hospital, Athens (1990-1992). Subsequently she decided to study for a Masters of Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1993-2000) sculpture under Thodoros Papayiannis; painting under Katerina Papaspyrou; mosaic under Yannis Valavanidis; and classes in fresco & Byzantine iconography. She collaborated in the creative Department at the Art & Motion Advertising Agency (1996-1998). Since 2001 she has been a member of the Greek Chamber of Fine Arts - EETE. Her artwork was chosen to illustrate the cover of Vassilis Tsiamboussis' story entitled Theodolite, in Eleftherotypia Newspaper on 8 September 2002. Since 2003 she has been teaching Art History & Aesthetics, Drawing, Architectural Drawing, and Applied Art at Arsakeion Highschool in Athens.Eleni Tsotsorou presented the following personal exhibitions: Interiors, Gallery 24, Athens (2001); Interiors II, Melina Merkouri Municipal Gallery, Hydra Island (2006); Oxygen, Gallery 24, Athens (2006); Oxygen, Venetian Castle, Karystos, Euboea Island (2007); Labyrinth and The Way Out, Art Beat, Brussels, Belgium (2009); and Labyrinth: The Way Out, E Gallery, Thessaloniki (2010). § She also took part in the following group exhibitions: Advertisement: Creating Wishes or a Wish to Create?, Heineken Art - 6th Contest of Young Greek Artists, Athens (1998); Young Greek Artists' Contest, Artnews Magazine & Maris Hotels, Athens (1998); Contest for Artworks on Permanently Exhibition at the New Athens Airport, Athens International Airport - Eleftherios Venizelos, Spata (2000); 1st Biennale of Young Greek Artists, Artnews Magazine & Maris Hotels, Athens (2000); Two Thousand Tin Cans, Lithographeion on Piraeus Street, Athens, Greece (2000); Gallery 24, Athens (2001, 2003); Graduates Show, To Ergostasio, Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA, Athens (2001); Gallery Lentzou, Athens (2001); Young Artists' Exhibition, Technopolis, Gazi, Athens (2002); Gallery Rodavgi, Athens (2003); Gallery Diorama, Athens, Greece (2003, twice in 2004); Ersi's Gallery, Mykonos Island (2006); Ten Women Artists, Alumnae of Arsakeion-Tositseion Educational Organization, Kostis Palamas Building, Cultural Center of the Municipality of Athens, Athens (2007); and Group Exhibition, Alumni Center, The American College of Greece, Plaka, Athens (2007).
Eleni Tsotsorou continues to live and work in Athens.
