NICOLAAS VISSCHER (Holland 1649-1702) |
For nearly a century, the members of the Visscher family were important art dealers and map publishers in Amsterdam. The founder of the business was Claes Jansz Visscher (1587-1652). His son, Nicolaas Jansz Visscher (1618-1679) and then grandson, Nicolaas Visscher (1649-1702) continued the business. At the death of the grandson in 1702, the business was continued by the grandson's wife until about 1717, when the business was sold to Pieter Schenk.
