EFFIE XANTHAKIS (Greece, Athens b. 1940 / act: Athens) |
Effie Xanthakis was born in 1940 in Athens. She graduated from Pierce College in 1958 and since 2005 has been serving as the President of the Alumni Association of The American College of Greece. She worked for twenty-five years as Sales Director for Singapore Airlines.Xanthakis has been self-taught in the fields of miniature sculpture and painting. She has this to say regarding her work: "Art has always been my one great passion. Although I paint, I tend to focus more on the artistic approach to copper and bronze. Art helps me face any difficulties that life may present." Dora Iliopoulou-Rogan has writes: "Xanthakis' creations are a microcosm in the image and likeness of the macrocosm. They are creations that are steeped in the charismatic aura of a supreme energy."
Effie Xanthakis has presented her work in at least one personal exhibition in Kolonaki, Athens, in 2006.
Effie Xanthakis currently continues to live and work in Athens.
