Constantin Xenakis was born on 28 December 1931 in Cairo, Egypt. He has lived in Paris since 1955. He received the following scholarships: Deutscher Akademischen Austausch Dienst - DAAD Artists-in-Residence programme, Berlin (1970); and Research Scholarship from the French Ministry of Culture (1980). He also took the following community action: Member of Administrative Committee of the Salon de Mai, Paris (1968-1983); and Member of Founding Committee and Judges Panel for the Vitry-sur-Seine Painting Prize, France (1969-1990). In 1996 he was awarded the Prix Delmas by the Institut de France, at the recommendation of the French Academy of Fine Arts.
