CM: This card commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Battle of Elli, which took place on the border of Dardanelle Straits (or Ellispont) on 3 December 1912. The Battle of Elli, which was the first of the two great battles between Greeks and Ottomans during the First Balkan War, ended with the victory of the Greek Navy and the trapping of the Ottoman Navy within the straits. The battleship "G. Averoff", which is represented at the front cover of this card, was at the head of the Hellenic Fleet, under the command of Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis. The inner page reproduces the message issued by Admiral Kountouriotis right before the beginning of the battle.
