Katerina Athanasiou was born on 23 August 1963 in Athens, Greece. She pursued the following studies: photography, script, direction at Stavrakos Hellenic Cinema and Television School, Athens (1981-1984); design clothing at Veloudaki School, Athens (1986-1988); modern dance and pantomime (1980-1994), sculpture at Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA, Athens (1991-1996); digital 3-D design, photo processing, video editing at a private institution (1996-1998); and masters degree in digital arts, ASFA, Athens (1998-2001).
